Mamiwata Eco Village
If you’re seeking retreat, Mamiwata Eco Village is hard to beat. This place really has the WOW factor!
There are fourteen sea-view rooms and three villas situated at different levels on the hillside, with unbroken views of the landscape and sea. The terraced slopes are coloured with varying hues of green, from the crops and tropical fruits that are grown here. Rising above this hill-top village are high, jagged mountain peaks. It’s a truly beautiful location.
The lovely outdoor infinity pool is surrounded by volcanic rock walls that are typical of the island, and you can look at to see as you take a refreshing dip. There’s also a yoga temple high on a hill-top, where you can have lessons with a professional trainer.
The fresh produce that is grown on the terraces surrounding your room will be served up in your meals, at the on-site restaurant. Or we can arrange a transfer for you if you want to eat elsewhere. Some parts of the slopes hold the solar photovoltaic panels that generate the electricity you’ll be using, including for the on-site desalination plant that provides your fresh water. Every little detail has been thought about, and the whole design of the place lends itself to the aesthetic of the mountain scenery, by using natural materials and neutral colours.
All of the rooms and villas have a private balcony, so get yourself a drink from the bar and watch the sun go down over the ocean.
The sea view rooms are all of separate and comfortable lodges, each with double beds and an open balcony area to spend time gazing at the spectacular view of Santo Antao’s rugged north. The three villas each have two separate en-suite bedrooms and a shared living and dining area.
