Rio Perdido Hotel & Thermal River
Surrounded by rainforests and deep canyons in Costa Rica’s driest province Guanacaste, the Rio Perdido Hotel & Thermal River seems unreal after a journey along a dusty and bumpy road.
Accessed via a walkway the reception opens into a spacious dining and bar area with a high dome-shaped roof, constructed with locally sourced wood. It overlooks three swimming pools with natural spring water at different temperatures. The nearby Rio Perdido river has thermal hot springs with troughs of volcanic mud.
Scattered about in the rainforest are twenty detached East Bungalows on stilts with a small private veranda and sitting hammocks. The cosy en-suite rooms with a corner seating area have a sleek modern minimalist design and are complemented with colourful cushions. All rooms have a television, A/C, Wi-Fi, safe, tea and coffee station and a minibar. A pull-out under the main bed turns the room into a triple.
The ten high-end more spacious Center Bungalows are completely different. Black on the outside, these rooms have floor to ceiling windows, volcanic rock floors and burnt teak wood panels giving it an overall dark interior. The idea is to bring peace and tranquillity and a back to nature feeling. These bungalows have an outdoor shower.
The newest and most exclusive rooms are the West Bungalows with views of the forest. The bungalows each have two terraces, one for dining and the other for bathing and showering, including s a double outdoor shower. Guests at the West Bungalows can take advantage of complimentary room service, a complimentary laundry service, and a complimentary morning experience per day in the on-site organic garden.
