Residencia Santa Clara : Old Havana
The boutique Casa, Residencia Santa Clara is located in Santa Clara street very close to both Plaza Vieja and Plaza San Francisco, two of the famous historic squares in Old Havana. The bay is also very near where you can stroll along Paseo de Alameda de Paula, the oldest seaside promenade in Havana.
This quirky but very attractive Casa has been sympathetically restored over many years using recycled local materials. These include taps and showers made of galvanised steel tubes, recycled wood doors, and furniture made from discarded old trees. The result is an unique stay in a historic colonial building with an arty and contemporary décor and a high level of comfort.
All the seven very stylishly designed rooms have well appointed en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, hairdryer and small safe. The Standard Room is certainly cosy with a small shower and can also be connected to a Standard Plus room so can work well for a family. Standard Plus Rooms are larger and have an internal view into the Patio area, part of the historic characteristics of the building.
The Superior Rooms enjoy some unique furnishings and wall designs with a small patio view balcony and the two Superior Plus Rooms are very spacious and offer a balcony overlooking the street, perfect for people watching!
The unique and stylish lobby cafe bar and roof terrace offer a selection of drinks with excellent Cuban cocktails, tapas and local meals.
A firm favourite of ours, Juliette and her small friendly team do offer a genuinely warm welcome at the Residencia Santa Clara, which interestingly is partly owned by a British /Cuban family, so there is certainly some subtle British influence at the Casa.
