Quinta Splendida
Located in the south coast town of Canico, Quinta Splendida is centred around a lovingly restored 19th century mansion house, surrounded by seven acres of exquisite botanical gardens.
There are over a thousand different plant species, and a clever mix of endemic and non-native varieties ensures the gardens are blooming throughout the year. They also supply the quinta’s three restaurants with organically-gardened ingredients such as oregano, mint, fennel, garlic, lettuce and tomatoes. The garden view La Perla restaurant and the sea view Restaurante Galeria both showcase the best local Madeiran produce (with a Mediterranean twist), whilst the Thai Lounge offers eastern-influenced cuisine using more organically grown spices.
Quinta Splendida also has also a large outdoor heated pool with an ocean view terrace, a second indoor pool, a gym and a luxurious spa. Room-wise, there are deluxe rooms in the main manor house, garden view rooms, studios with garden view balconies or partial sea views, and spacious sea view suites. There are also two excellent options for families – one and two bedroom apartments, with balconies and terraces overlooking the gardens.
